If you're building around crosses in FC 27, don't just grab the tallest forward you can find. Aerial attacks live or die on timing, movement, and delivery. A striker with decent height, sharp positioning, strong jumping, and reliable heading can cause more trouble than a bigger name who stands still. Before spending your FC 27 Coins, watch how the player attacks space, not just how his card looks.

What Makes an Aerial Forward Work

Height helps, sure, but it isn't the whole story. Heading Accuracy decides whether a clean connection becomes a real chance or a harmless ball toward the goalkeeper. Strength matters when the defender gets tight, while Jumping helps smaller forwards compete against taller centre-backs. Attacking Positioning is often overlooked, yet it controls those little bursts into the six-yard area.

PlayStyles can change the feel of a striker too. Look for traits that improve aerial contact, physical battles, or finishing under pressure. A forward who attacks the near post early can pull a centre-back away from the main target. That small movement opens room for a second runner, and suddenly the cross has two sensible options instead of one hopeful gamble.

Use the Current Crossing Trend Properly

The Meta: Fast wingers cut wide, then whip early crosses toward a powerful striker.

The Snag: Defenders read repeated near-post balls and clear them all afternoon.

The Fix: Mix low deliveries, back-post lofts, and delayed runs before crossing.

Reality check: Sometimes your giant striker wins everything, yet the ball still flies into row Z because the cross was rushed.

Compare the Roles Before Spending

It helps to separate players by job rather than rating. Your main target needs strength and contact quality. The supporting forward should offer speed, reactions, and good movement around loose balls. Wide players need enough pace to reach the crossing lane, but Crossing and Curve are what make their final action useful. Here's a quick way to judge the setup before changing half the squad.

Small Details That Win More Headers

A lot of players ask whether a 4-4-2 still works when everyone defends deep.

It does, but don't force the cross. Move the second striker first, recycle once, then attack the gap that opens.

Build the Attack Around Variety

Use the 4-4-2 as a starting point, not a prison. One forward can pin the centre-back near the six-yard line while the other drifts toward the penalty spot. Your winger then has a choice. Aim behind the first defender, clip the ball toward the far runner, or play a shorter pass and reset. The best aerial sides don't cross every time they reach the flank.

For corners, avoid sending the ball to the same target on every attempt. Put your strongest header near the main crowd, then move a second tall attacker across the line just before delivery. A short corner can also pull one defender away and create a cleaner angle. Upgrade the striker first, then the most reliable crosser, and only after that spend heavily on midfield passing. If the squad still needs one more specialist, buy EA FC 27 Coins when it fits your budget and strengthen the role your current team genuinely lacks.
